NSW: Postnatal depression video launch
SYDNEY, Aug 26 AAP - Radio personality Wendy Harmer today launched a new video to help
new mums cope with postnatal depression.
One in six new mothers suffer from the condition and the documentary-style awareness
campaign follows three mothers who journeyed through depression and now lead support groups.
Although Wendy did not suffer postnatal depression herself, she is patron of the Dona
Maria Pre and Postnatal Support Network which commissioned the video entitled What Do
You Mean I've changed?
The network's director Karen Burns said partners of the women were included in the program
to offer their perspective.
"This video is an important step in raising awareness of postnatal depression, its
effects upon the family and treatment options," Ms Burns said.
A 24-hour support line for postnatal depression is open on 1300 555 578.
