SA: Be active challenge for SA students

The South Australian government will challenge primary school and early high school
students to be active .. and reduce childhood obesity.

The government's 1.8 million dollar initiative'll encourage students up to year nine
to exercise for at least one hour a day .. over 10 weeks.

Education Minister JANE LOMAX-SMITH says they want kids to turn off TV and computers
.. and play outdoors.

He says healthy habits reduce children's risk of diabetes .. heart disease .. and other
obesity-related health conditions.







Students who take part in the Premier's Be Active Challenge will be rewarded with medals
and other awards.
